Suharban

     Suharban is a Buryat sports festival that takes place each summer.  The main events are archery, wrestling, and horse racing.  We enjoyed watching the horse races this year, together with friends.

Leif makes friends wherever he goes, and talked with people on the sidelines.

     When the boys tired of watching the horses, they started throwing dirt into a small pond.  Sara said that if they got her with dirt, she'd throw them into the pond.  Guess what happened?!  ;)

Afterward, our new friend, Tuyana, wanted to take us to see a local spring of water at the Buddhist temple.  The kids rode with Nettie.

     As we were walking there, a man galloped by on his horse and lost his hat.  He came back for it a few minutes later and let us pet his horse.

When we got to the spring, we collected it in our bottles and drank it.

     We've enjoyed getting to know Tuyana this summer.  She will soon be moving away, but we've cherished getting to know her and having her join our ladies' group and English Club (in the city and at Baikal).
